Manitowoc County Habitat for Humanity offers a Home Repair Program focusing on high-impact, volunteer-friendly external construction projects that improve neighborhoods and allow low-income homeowners to stay in their homes with improved comfort and safety. We also have a Home Repair for Veterans Program for those who have past military service or are actively serving.
Existing homeowners who qualify can get help with light external construction (fixing a porch, building a wheelchair ramp or repairing steps), external weatherization (caulking windows), external painting and limited landscaping (when it impacts structures or safety).
Projects are selected based on need and should meet a one or two day time commitment for completion. Our Home Repair Program is not free. A Habitat loan will be provided at 0% interest for the cost of repair materials and any paid labor. Homeowners will be expected to spend “sweat equity” hours helping with their repairs if they are physically able.

The homeowner must be unable to afford and complete necessary home repairs. The homeowner's gross income must fall within 30-60% of the median income for Manitowoc County.
